The question is no longer whether they can occur, but <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Are we prepared to detect them in time and minimize their impact?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-bdf8cbba5774525e95ea4887bfbdc4a5 is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#383cbe\"><summary>Why are these incidents significant?<\/summary>\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f64545f44443fa6253d76cfb2b5605d7\">Because they show that threats to GNSS (spoofing, jamming, and unwanted interference) are not a remote possibility: they can even affect high-level missions with strict security protocols.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c0c31a6a03aa751d1ae9ba26a2b22538\">Because they highlight the vulnerability of many critical infrastructures (airports, control towers, etc.) that depend on satellite positioning as a cornerstone of their operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a52ba2f314a8153d6266230c4c1370c9\">Because they remember that, in the event of satellite signal failures, backup procedures and systems can save the day, but they are not always provided with sufficient redundancy in all cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<details class=\"wp-block-details has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-f7838f32ba25176afd99a28f3a569d35 is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\" style=\"color:#383cbe\"><summary>Lessons from incidents<\/summary>\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-32161016035a66ff58e41e7955837414\">For example, in the case of von der Leyen&#8217;s flight, several technical issues are raised:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5c69557ea6ad468e4605ef0b954f0a5a\">The aircraft was unable to rely on its usual GNSS system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8fe4ec40e7a74626ad1b5a917291d5e7\">The airport did not detect the interference in time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-70285899d3debac5017c46092f1fbe3f\">The crew had to act without knowing whether the situation was isolated, localized, or part of a larger threat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7d0da6d276807caf73a13a3118e6e8bb\">The response was good.
