Sustainability is becoming increasingly relevant in all sectors, and aeronautics is no exception. With the increasing global focus on reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact of aircraft, eco-design is emerging as one of the most relevant solutions for the future of the industry. <\/p> \n\r\n\r\n

What is eco-design?<\/h3> \n \n

Ecodesign, or sustainable design, involves integrating ecological criteria from the conception phase of products, seeking to minimize their environmental impact throughout their life cycle. This refers not only to the selection of materials, but also to energy efficiency and waste management during production, use and final disposal. In the aeronautics sector, these practices translate into greater fuel efficiency, less waste and, ultimately, a lower environmental impact. <\/p> \n\r\n

Why is eco-design important for aeronautics?<\/h3> \n \n

The aviation industry is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, particularly with regard to CO2. Commercial aircraft contribute significantly to global emissions, which makes the search for innovative solutions that can reduce their environmental footprint all the more urgent. Within the sector, eco-design offers several opportunities for improvement: <\/p> \n\r\n

More sustainable materials: <\/strong><\/p> \n\r\n\r\n \n

Using lightweight, recyclable materials with less environmental impact is one of the keys. An example of such application in CENTUM is the use of chassis in our systems, made of a material whose reuse cycle is infinite, without loss of material or characteristics, making infinitely recyclable products designed for high durability over time. <\/p> \n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Reduction of energy consumption: <\/strong><\/p> \n\r\n\r\n \n

In the aeronautics sector, our systems help in reducing our customers’ flight times, not only making SAR missions more effective but, consequently, also helping to reduce in-flight emissions.<\/p> \n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n

Waste reduction: <\/strong><\/p> \n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Eco-design also seeks to minimize waste generated both during manufacturing and at the end of the product’s useful life. With a focus on the recyclability and reusability of parts and materials, we are moving towards a more circular model. With an environmental management system such as ISO 14001<\/a>, at CENTUM, we manage waste at the end of life of our systems, not only helping our customers, but also helping to care for the environment. <\/p> \n\r\n\r\n\r\n
